Ahanti's relationship with percussion started early in life. First with pot and pans, buckets and boxes. He then was enamored by the sounds of the St. Paul Rondo Elks and then their protégé, Umoja, Whom he desperately wanted to join. They would allow Him to play during practice but wouldn't allow us to rock the stage. So Ahanti and some friends began their own group(s). He was then exposed to a drum and bugle corps by the name of Royal Guard Drum and Bugle Corps. He, there learned the rudiments that would allow him to develop into the percussionist he is today. His unique style and ablities allow him to not only play with different genre but with dance and theater respectfully. Ahanti teaches African Based Drumming, Enviroment/Bucket Drumming, Basic Hand Drumming, HipHop Drumming, Trap Set and a host of other customizable classes. He has taught for Walker West Music Academy, Art Us, Talmud Torah.
Ahanti has most recently been featured on PaviElle French's Sophomore album "Sovereign", her debut album "Fear Not" and two albums with Spoken word fusion group "Edupoetic Enterbrainment".
